Trip Prep:

≫ we will be spending the 7 months prior to the trip helping prepare
≫ Monthly training events! In person! Hands on! – On site Industry Professionals!
≫ These Events will take place on the First Saturday of every month, Pleasant Hill, OH (attendance not required)
≫ Our goal with these 7 monthly training sessions is to take someone from never been out west to fully prepared and knowledgeable on all topics

– Topics to be covered
≫ Gear List / Prep
– We will be providing individuals with a very detailed list of the items recommended for a Mountain Elk hunt
– We will then assist over time and go through checklists as the hunt gets closer
– Our team will individually go over your gear packing pre trip
≫ Clothing
– go over in detail how the “Layering” clothing system works
– provide detailed lists of clothing recommended to fit all budgets
– assist individuals in getting the gear they need at reduced prices
≫ E-scouting/Hunt planning
– go over what we typically look for when looking at maps etc
– partnered with industry professional hunt planner East2WestHunts who will be available for individualized plans
– go over base camp location, logistics of travel, meat transport etc.
– We will discuss the different hunt styles and their different gear requirements
≫ Strategy/ Tactics / Processing
– We will go over general elk communications/calling
– We will go over different tactics used for elk, then make recommendations of which apply for this style hunt
– We will walk through the processing process, and develop a plan on how to get the meat home
≫ Archery Training
– go over recommended Bow setups etc.
– go over broadhead suggestions/setups depending on individual
– hands on training and skill development
– on site targets and shooting in addition to the training
≫ Fitness/ Mountain Strength Prep / Mindset
– We will work through some workouts together at a couple of the meetings
– discuss training plans to prep for this trip
– host group workouts
– mentally prepare you for the different unknowns that may be thrown at you during a hunt
– go over some situations and how having the correct mindset will allow you to overcome them
≫ Food prep
– go trough calorie needs and supplement needs
– discuss different items that fit the hunting diet/weight needs
– discuss the different processes for cooking/etc
≫ Survival / Bush craft skill Development
– go trough some basic survival needs
– go over multiple ways of creating fires
– go over moisture management practices.
